Grandma's Pizza

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards on 10:29 PM
When I go to Florida for spring or summer vacation, I force my dad to take me out to Dominic’s Italian Restaurant. The restaurant makes one of the best pizza’s I have ever had. The serve a pizza called the Grandma’s pizza and it makes you want to cry because it is so good. The pizza is cut into squares but the crust is thick, not thin at all, and they put a very light tomato sauce on the dough. Then on top of the light sauce they put thick slices of mozzarella over the whole entire pizza. After they put a whole slice of tomato on top of the pizza, and then add some oregano seasoning. When you open the box to see the pizza, the mozzarella is melted all over the pizza so when you pick up the slice, the cheese is clinging to everything, which is annoying but worth it. Then when you take the first bite, the pizza basically feels like it explodes in your mouth. The amount of flavor is unbearable and it is so crispy yet juicy at the same time. My dad and I get two pizzas just for the both of us because of how addicting the pizza is. When people think about Florida, they think about Disney, the beaches, and the nice weather, but when I think about Florida, all I think about it Grandma’s Pizza.

Justine...
Some friends and I have been performing an informal pizza tour/critique of CT pizza joints.
We've gone to Colony in Fairfield (eh), Roseland in Derby (yay), Mario's in Watertown (nice chewy crust), Bar in New Haven (fantastic mashed potato and bacon pie and the best salad anywhere). Many to go. My favorite is Modern in New Haven. Waiting to take my peeps to see what their consensus is.
